What to Expect from Therapy
Starting therapy can feel like stepping into the unknown. You might be wondering what to say, how it works, or whether you even “need” therapy in the first place. It’s completely natural to have these questions.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers before you begin - it’s about giving yourself the time and space to explore, process, and make sense of things at your own pace.
A Space That’s Yours
Therapy offers different things to different people. For some, it’s a place to work through a specific challenge - anxiety, relationship difficulties, self-doubt. For others, it’s a regular opportunity for reflection, a way to deepen self-understanding as life unfolds.
Whatever brings you here, therapy is a space that’s yours. It’s a place where all of you is welcome - your thoughts, feelings, fears, uncertainties, hopes, and everything in between.
The Process
I work weekly because momentum is important. Even when things feel less intense or urgent, consistency allows us to build trust, notice shifts, and explore what’s beneath the surface. For me, therapy isn’t about quick fixes - it’s a paced, explorative process that invites you to take the scenic route through life.
Each session, you lead, and I will be guided by you. Some days, you might arrive with something specific on your mind; other days, you may not know where to start. That’s okay. My role is to be alongside you - to ask questions, notice patterns, and at times, provide gentle challenges with the intention of being wholly supportive.
Together, we might look at past experiences and relationships, exploring how they shape the present. We might sit with difficult emotions, untangle self-judgment, or make space for new ways of thinking and being. Most importantly, our work will be shaped by what feels meaningful to you.
A Supportive & Affirming Space
I am committed to providing a therapeutic space that is respectful, inclusive, and affirming of all identities and experiences. I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework and strive to offer culturally competent, non-discriminatory, and queer-affirming therapy. This is a space where difference and diversity are honoured, and where you can show up as you are.
If You’re Curious
Starting therapy isn’t always an easy step, but if you’re curious about working together, I offer a free introductory call. It’s a chance to get a feel for the process and see if it feels like the right fit for you.
Wherever you are right now, therapy is here when you’re ready.
